ANQ Congress 2006 - “Adding value to the Supply Chain”
Presented by Mr. Jimmy Pang
Abstract
Globalization is changing our modern life not only the business model
but also peoples' values. 'Customer' no longer means a single person, also the
communities and societies. Accordingly quality definition should expand from
individual needs to social concerns, such as Corporate Governance, Environment,
Social Accountability, National Regulation and Legislation. Transfer the same
definition from end users upstream to the product or service designers is a new
challenge in last decade.
One of the major aspects is 'Supply Chain Security', which significantly affect
the cost and profit of brand owners and each party in the chain. Information or
operation security should not be new topic to process designers or brand
owners. Implementing and complying with new regulations and standards is
critical.
National anti-terrorism regulations and standards may cover from background
checking of product line workers to custom declaration of trade information. On
the other hand, brand owners’ concerns, such as design patron, business secret
and process management.... also need to be considered by each process designer.
Integrating different standards become the new mission of 21st century quality
practitioner.
